Stuck on upgrade path

Thread Starter
Alright - I'm stuck - and would like some feedback on what I should do. This is the system I will use for the "next 3 years rolleyes.gif" (hopefully)

I have 2 choices:

A: Just bought a new P67 board a week ago, so I can either keep that + wait for ivy (I can wait, for what I do now a netbook is enough for me, but the upgrade itch isn't gonna scratch itself)

OR

B: Bought a Rampage X79 board from a friend a few weeks ago + buy a 3930k now and ignore ivy benchmarks forever.

Also on a side note, will there be any 6 core processors for 1155?

Better go for cheapest upgrade and please your itch since you don't have any special ap or softw demands that requires bigger cash drop. thumb.gif
Anyway, it's harsh to say this but after all 1155 is not high end platform so I doubt intel plans launching hex cores for this one. Remember 1156 and 1366? wink.gif

I would definitely go with the cheaper setup. The X79 one will be pretty damn expensive so I would definitely go with the other setup. And deal with the upgrade itch later.

C. you can also drop a 3820 in the x79 board for now, sell it, and then get IB-E later this year.

Would you get the most out of the x79? Do you not mind spending that much for a 3930k or IB-E? If the answers are yes/no respectively for those questions, I would get a 3930K or 3820/IB-E.

To my knowledge there are no hexacores slated for IB 1155. There will be a hexacore IB-E, maybe even an octocore.

Check out the 3770k review Here. It bests the 3820 nearly every time, and closes the gap between the 2600K and 3930K in many areas. I doubt you would be dissapointed. Just make sure it is compatible with your P67.

Cheers!
