Random lockups?

So this is frustrating. Haven't had a single issue with my computer till now. Recent upgrades were the motherboard, memory, and SSD.

I did a memtest overnight and it said there were no issues so the memory is out of the question. The crashes are pretty random...keeps closing out of my game (LOL) with the splashcreen bug report thing then it freezes.

I've had a blue screen once. Not sure what it is. Suggestions?

Another symptom. While listening to music on Spotify, my "Aero" theme went to basic...? Sounding more like video card. Will Furmark it overnight...

If its not BSOD, but hardware hanging - I'd be looking at power. The Memory and SSD alone could be increasing your power requirements.

just my 2p's worth. smile.gif

Did you even look at my rig and my PSU?

oops, my bad. I didn't actually. 700W should be more than enough. Still, a hardware hang does scream power issue. I had an old rig that would hardware hang, and it turned out to be power related. Graphics cards could cause similar issues too. You wouldn't have another card handy to try and see if that's the problem, would you?

That sounds like a more possible reason. It says I have a 5770, but I have a 4770 in there? But yeah I could try the onboard graphics. I ran furmark for a few minutes actually and it ran fine...throwing that out there lol

Well I think you'd have to run the tests for at least an hour before you can say the hardware's ok. I've never really got into testing graphics cards yet, never had one decent enough to warrant it. I'm using my onboard IGP just now, cos my 9800GX2 died on me. frown.gif

When overclocking my Athlon II, I ran Prime95 for 24 hours before i'd say it was ok - and I've had it flag an error 22 hours in before. I'm not sure what the GPU equivalent would be, but maybe it worth running a stress test on your graphics for at least a few hours? It may just show up a problem?
