New computer build wont display output

Thread Starter
I just built a PC for a friend today, confident enough that I would be able to do it (done it twice in the past with minor road humps which were solved).

Everything seems to be running fine, every part seems to be working as it should (all fans spinning, hard drive whirring etc) however there is no display output.

The motherboard is:
http://www.ebuyer.com/344804-msi-h61m-p22-b3-socket-1155-vga-dvi-d-8-channel-audio-matx-motherboard-h61m-p22-b3-

The graphics card is:
http://www.ebuyer.com/322129-sapphire-hd-6770-1gb-dvi-vga-hdmi-pci-e-graphics-card-11189-10-20g

I have tried taking out the graphics card and using VGA from mobo to monitor. I have tried connecting the graphics card (and the back 6 pin connector) and trying to use the VGA on the graphics card, still no luck. The screen just says no signal or whatever (tried 2 monitors and a TV, same results).

I really need suggestions as I told him I would get it fixed. Kinda panicking. Thanks.

It sounds like problem with the motherboard. I can't think what else it could be.
Probably have to end up sending back the mobo.

You could always try the components in yours to be sure. Although, its effort.

You made sure to plug in the GPU 6 pin correct?

never mind just reread your post

You could try resetting the CMOS on the motherboard, and taking the GPU out using just the onboard.

What processor are you using BTW?

Would the computer still boot up if there was a problem with the motherboard, though?

Yes, definitely. I've taken it out and re-positioned it about 5 times, I'm sure I'm plugging the GPU in fine.

I tried taking out the CMOS battery, leaving it for a few mins then replacing it. No luck. There also does not seem to be any jumpers on the mobo (?)

i5 2500 is the CPU.

If you are sure you have your cpu power plugged into the motherboard , try doing this next.
If your rig has on board video, remove graphic's card, clear cmos, remove all ram except for 1 module and reboot.
Good luck and post back with results smile.gif

The computer doesn't power down at all?

And ive had a similar problem when building a friends. No display, fans spinning but it was shutting down after a while. That was because i added a standoff in wrong place and it was shorting it redface.gif .
You could try and run it out the case.

But i think its likely a bad mobo myself.
