want to go higher on new fx6200 but keep bsod

own the new and fx 6200 here are the clock speeds. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2287594
the temps at load are around 31c at idle 15c. this is on a coolmaster hyper 212+ p\p. Obviuosly it is nice and cool and the voltage is stock for the chip. I am sure i can get this chip higher within safe ranges. When i raise the multiplier i bsod. When i raise the multiplier and the voltage i bsod. Have tried lowering memory raising memory. Raising the bus speed. Of course I have disabled coolandquiet, turboboast etc... This is my first six core cpu and also my first amd fx cpu. I am kind of at a loss here. Help please? Oh also how do i get put that nice looking on the fx owners list. Looks like i would be the first fx6200 on it. heehee

What do your voltages look like at 100% load? what motherboard are you running? are you overclocking the northbridge, or hypertransport? Does it bsod as soon as your get into windows, or under prime95 testing?

GA 970A UD3 I am just using the unlocked multilier normal is at 20.5 i have it at 22. Ok here we go. With all 6 cores running at 20.5x200=4100 i am getting no errors in prime95 at 1.376v. This is the default voltage. This is also with turboboost disabled and cool and quiet disabled. At 22x200=4400 i am getting errors in core 4 and 6 at 1.408v. I believe that the increase in voltage is vdroop as i still have the voltage set to normal. The computer still runs however and i am able to play my favorite game BF3 no problems. I am thinking i need to jack the voltage up a bit and i will no longer get errors on those 2 cores. I finally got the computer to load windows at 23x200=4600@1.4625v. However when i tried starting prime95 it crashed lol. In the mean time i am going to raise the voltage a bit for 4400 and see if the errors in prime95 go away. Maybe i should also mention that the temps topped out at 41c at load when i tested at 4400. I think that leaves me some room to go higher. I hope this gives u a better idea of my problem.

have you tried keeping it on stock mult then lower the voltage till it BSOD on you?
reply back at which voltage it starts to bsod under prime on the stock mult.

sounds like ram issues to me though.

Ok i set the cpu to 4100. This mb does voltages in .025 increments. Not very tight. anyways i dropped it .025 from 1.3875 which is the normal voltage according to the motherboard to 1.3625 and it caused errors in prime95. Would have bsod if i had not turned prime95 off. I also noticed that the cpu speed was fluxuating the multiplier would drop and raise along with the voltage. I am sure that i disabled cool and quiet, turboboost, and c1e support. So my new question is this normal with prime95? Or did i forget to disable something else. Sigh... Addition to this post. I raised the multiplier up to 21.5x200=4300. On normal voltage while. running prime95, recording my evening tv shows, and typing this right now, I am getting no errors in prime95. Hmmm at 4400 with normal voltage i could run it some errors in prime95 but no bsod and i can still play my games. At 4300 no errors. At 4400 with an .025 increase in voltage i bsod. Could this be a power supply issue? I have and Antec 750w Eartwatts never gave me a problem that i know of. Just something else to think about i guess. O and the memory is on the mb list of approved memory and i did a memtest on it and it was fine. Maybe this cpu has very little oc room because it is an 8120 with 2 cores disabled? lots of questions here.sorry about that. Test Still running fine. Will check back later Thank you

seems like ram to me, id check there first... do the usual, re-seat them, clear bios, boot to bios, load defaults, save, reboot to bios and set up your ram timings and voltage manually and try prime95 again.

EDIT: oh, there is another power/turbo feature for the zambezi in the bios you need to disable, "apm" or advanced power management i think its called.
my 6100 went up beyond 1.46 volts on the turbo, they need alot of volts, especially when all cores are clocked up, i could only get my 6100 to 4.2, needed 1.5 + volts, temp was pretty high lol
didnt want to get stable even @ 4ghz 1.48 i think...sigh

so yea at 4.0 + all cores loaded your going to need way more voltage tongue.gif

At 4.328 i am stable@1.376v At least this is what prime95 is saying after about 2 hours. With temps at about 50c. I am no longer fluctuating now that i have disabled apm. get errors So maybe it is a memory thing though when i had my 965be on this board clocked at 3.8 i had no problems with my memory. I would like to figure out how to get it to 4.6 stable but maybe this is not possible. I cant afford to buy other memory. So maybe i will be happy with this at 4.328 it is still pretty fast and i no longer get lag recording my tv shows while i game and also get a few more frames in the games i play which is always nice. Thank you for the help.

in my last post i inadvedently put in 2 words that said "get errors" what i meant to say is that i no longer get errors. At 4328mhz after 12 hour i have not gotten any errors in prime95. I still would like to go higher though. a new post for what i discovered in cooling
