3 feet my Monitor is Considered Retina lol. Anyways unless its a reallllly high end TV you probably lost a lot there. Most TVs have huge imput lag.

It depends on how close you are to the monitor. I have 23" Dells and a 46" Samsung all 1080 and do not notice a difference. The only reason I do not notice a difference between the 2, is I'm not sitting as close to the 46" vs the 23". The bigger you go, the more distance you want to put between you and the display.

generally speaking the realllly high end TV's are the worst culprits of input lag. you want a low-mid range TV which will have less signal processing in theory. or at least a high end tv that's capable of passing a pure, unmolested signal through.

Go for a 27" over a 21.5, worth it everyday. I adjusted my seating arrangement and mounted my monitor on wall to adjust for PPI drop. That said, I gained about a foot of view distance and incredible desk space with the adjustments.
