Right. That's for ONE thing. Another thing is I wouldn't trust UPS to treat the box with ultimate care at all points. And I wouldn't trust that it didn't fall off a truck. And I wouldn't trust that it didn't get exposed to extreme temps, thusly freezing it into uselessness. For other things.

Again, the point was just that he ought to do his own checking. Yes, the first thing I thought of was that the seller may not have thoroughly tested, but the end result is the same - he needs to do his own verification of the hardware. Obviously, it ain't workin yet. And what I said was that my guts said it was a PSU, not a failure on some OCN user's part whom I have never met and don't give a damn about.

In other words, why not just stick to PM's if you don't have anything helpful to contribute to this issue? You're only here to get someone to tell you you didn't do a bad job. So there. I said it. You did a great job, and I'm sure it had nothing to do with you. All better now, princess?

Still giving you the thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif for being a whining, petulant annoyance in my day. Gods forbid anyone should offer good advice without framing it in such a way that folks like you are certain to never be questioned. BOO! gunner2.gif

So it's an AMD computer? what board does it have?
Try getting a sempron from Newegg. They're real cheap and it would probably boot right up if the board's turning on.
You're having the same symptoms I saw in my dad's eMachines computer. That sempron was an upgrade from the Athlon 64, and didn't cost much at all. Another thing I could suggest is getting a cheap matx board, cpu, and memory combo from newegg. If you go real basic, you'll be in good shape and you will be much less frusterated doing an overhaul rather than trying to fix that junk hp stuff

will try to find a cheap sempron. Sucks that I let go a very cheap am2 cpu a few days ago. Or maybe I'll just tell the owner I'll build him a new computer and this one is no go.

All of the am3 processors are getting pretty cheap now that am3+ is out. You might even be better off getting an fm1 board/cpu combo if you're not going to run a dedicated card, as those aren't very expensive either
