I would suggest using that money elsewhere... what would you use the ram disk for?

Just games, etc, didn't know they were erased upon shutdown.

I thought of an SSD.. I really have no idea what to buy when it comes to SSDs though

RAM gets erased upon every shut down or power loss. You'd have to save the RAM disk as an image somewhere, and remount it on every startup, and save it on every shut down. You'd be losing any speed you gained by using it.

Honestly, if you REALLY need that much speed, its time to buy another SSD if that's what you really need.

For fun tongue.gif

A RAM drive would be best used for smaller things (than 10GB+ games).
Slow to load programs, temp files, cache...
Maybe if you're saving and loading large (1-2GB) files frequently.

If you want some storage space,
with any realistic amount of space (e.g. for games),
then another SSD would be the way to go.

Maube try that FancyCache program...? biggrin.gif

SSD's are cheaper than RAM per GB. Plus you do not have the data loss issues from power loss.

Ramdisks are more worth it for server/database usage.
Agreed, buy another SSD. That's the sole reason I have a second one. As for what one to get, depends one how much space you need. But in all honesty, for just games, pretty much any reliable one will be just fine.

This.

And then re-use your Solid 3 for SSD Caching on your hard drive since you've got z68. This way you'll have a real 128GB SSD (a fast one), and you'll have your 7200.9 drive with SSD like speeds as well.

The Crucial M4 is always a solid choice.
I like my Force GT quite well, too.
Not literally worth the extra $$$ for a faster SSD, though.
