I have the same mobo & I had to turn off the C-states & Speedstep in the mobo (the suspend & power saving modes). Speedstep doesn't lower the voltage when it downclocks once you get past a certain point, so the power saving functions were moot (which is why I turned them all off. I'd rather have a stable OC). Best of luck.

Wow, I'm so sorry I bumped this thread from the grave. OCN recommended it in the bottom right, so I bit, & sure enought it's old as dirt . Sorry, guys.

Hey everyone, first of all i must apologies that I’ve pushed up this thread from the hell ))) however i didn't wanted to create a new one.
Hope that someone could help me with such old but still good cpu.
So, i'm running right now the subj. cpu with same problem.
Please see the picture of my cpu-z:

The problem is that in this frequency it is unstable, linx or prime95 does not work, the system is restarting once i just start the test.

Even at 4200 and 1.375v it is unstable, 5-7 min in prime95 and system restarts. Seems that this is very poor overclock for 990x,

I was just trying to increase multiplier & vcore, other stats are default. Temps. are fine, 30 in idle and 75-80C in load. Got the Thermaltake frio cooler.

here are the bios setting. maybe something wrong:

Normally 990x must run 4.4 at 1.375v, stable.
In my situation 4.4 at 1.39, unstable.

I'm running poor ddr3 ram at this moment (will buy a new one a bit later). I got 2x1gb & 1x2gb 1333. But i didn’t over clock it.

my MoBo: Gigabyte ud7, rev 2.

Any suggestions?
