In all seriouseness and common sense, if you are to hear all this crap about me3 actually no if you hear all this crap about a product I dont think your first instinct is to go out and buy the thing.
Word of advice. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Games arent free, and money doesnt grow on trees.

I edited that not to be mean because I felt like it was.

My point is, actual critics, the real ones ; you know the ones that review THOUSANDS of games a year, gave it a 93...The community, gave it a 2.

Who's review is more capable?

I'm not saying piss away your cash but, there's a far difference from the opinion of the hardcore and the community at large.

The community at large, loved the game -- The hardcore fans, did not and were very vocal about it.

Opinions do grow on trees and IMHO you need to grow your own in the future.

I never really trust "professional" critics and I use professional lightly. As said in previous posts its really biased, they cater to the largest crowd, and towards the companys so they can continue to get free copys of the game to review. How else do you think COD makes it to the top 10s all the time. There seems to be a large enough outcry for metacritic to delete nearly half the user reviews for "infringing their TOS" but its 50% of the reviewers that gave the game a low review. There seems to be a large enough outcry for this to shake metacritic, and possibly the devs, if they even care. And also like you said first hand reviews are a must I think the users have more of a first hand review then the "professionals". Professionals usually try to fly though the game and be the first on the web to get their reviews out first for the most hits.

Actually opinions dont grow from trees they stem from the trivial problems of the internet.

As far as my opinion goes this is it, I wont get the game for $70 because I dont think EA deserves any of it, and these things actually reinforce my point.

Just the fact that people say stuff like "LOL WHO CARES?" is the reason why all games now suck. The people who say that probably said exactly the same thing as the developers.

People want photo-realistic games, but don't want actual photos of textures used? You want something that looks like a photograph, but you need someone to draw it for you to be happy?

Hate to break this to all of you gamers on OCN who are freaking out about this, but photos are used to make all kinds of things in games, textures of walls, floors, plants, etc. And to be honest, whenever I hear people complaining about graphics, it makes me sad that people care so much about the way something looks. Would you have rather BioWare spend more time on graphics, or more time on making the game more fun?

Is this news? Nothing against the OP, that said "Gamers" aren't angry about this supposed revelation, lol. OMG they got a peek into how ALL media works and they cannot process it?

Please, they are more concerned about way more shallow things than this hehe. Don't give them that much credit, now they are Art critics ?? lachen.gif

Just click farming...with the absence of real news by that Source website.

Let me see if i'm getting this right. Instead of doing their own art direction they just used a stock photo for one of the main characters. If that's true, i'm disappointed.

I agree, professional reviewers always seem to be much harder on RPGs. The more the game resembles CoD the better the chance of getting 9/10 or 10/10. On more classic style RPG's you will almost always see professional reviewers give a game 6/10 ot 7/10 and user reviews complaining in the exact opposite manner giving games perfect scores.

Rarely have I actually relied on a professional review site to make my final buying decision on a game. Metacritic user reviews are not irrelevant as others have said. They're probably the best indication of what the game is actually like because chances are those people will have the same biases as you.

If you still have concerns then there's always twitch.tv or youtube.

This photoshopped pic is only the tip of the ice burg when it comes to problems with Mass Effect 3. They didn't even put an effort in. You clearly see that Tali has only two fingers on her hand from looking at the suit. They just shopped in a black area over the two fingers and changed the colour of the skin.

I guess Konami was also not even trying when it used Michael Beihn's image as Kyle Reese from the Terminator to portray Solid Snake. Oh the horror !!! Damn art departments always not trying !!

Atleast Konami took the effort to redraw the photo by hand, instead of blatantly copy and pasting the photo and just adding lines to the face and lighting to the background. Theres a different level of effort between those two.

That may be true but there is a fine line between the two. Bio ware has certainly destroyed that line for profit.
