[G&G]Xbox 720 sneaked in to London

Game development company Crytek has revealed that the biggest names in gaming have been staying in London trying out Microsoft’s newest Xbox offering. Microsoft, who has been very sneaky, used the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona to cover up this Xbox 720 (codenamed Durango) summit.

Source

I have a google news notification for everything that comes up for Xbox 720/Durango/Next Gen/Loop, I put this in rumors, but I have heard from a lot of MLG pros that they have heard that it was a good showing. Still a lot of she said he said, but that is probably the way it will stand until E3. I have seen a few other news articles like this one too. Makes sense to me why they would do it.

The image from this site for the test 'FOX' is the best quality out there right now. If someone could upscale the quality a bit, that would be great.

Looks to me (from what 'FOX' brings) like it will be probably a 7000 series or Nvidia 600 series low end card with DX11.1. It would make sense, as those cards will be able to push 1440p, and the Console Devs seem to be able to push the current cards to unbelievable limits. If the next console is to be a 5-8 year lifespan, then it makes sense they would use a card that would be able to push 1440p@a higher framrate as in 5 years I am sure 1440p will be more widespread in use/content production and much cheaper.

It just makes no sense to go from 480i with the Xbox (Gen 1), to 1080p (usually 480-600p upscaled, Gen 2), to only FULL 1080p (with a 6000 series or 500 series card), makes more sense to make the jump to 1440p if it could be sold for cheap enough.

That's what I am saying sounds wrong. Those cards are far too old and far too cheap to put them in a machine that will release Winter of 2013, by then we will be on 8000 series or 700 series probably so it would make no sense to use a card that is a year older and maybe $10 cheaper to use, than to upgrade to 1440p ability for another 3 years easy of life expectancy of the console.

Edit - And btw, all these prices you see for chips is for MSRP buy one consumers....we are talking about first off, a company that will likely buy/build 100 MILLION of these things (they have already sold over 70million 360's). So whatever price you see for a card now, it is drastically a fraction of that for Microsoft. Not to mention that in 5 years a card's price will drop like a rock. For example, what do you think that a 500 MHz ATI Xenos chip would sell for now (what was in the first 360s(not S models)), probably like $5, not serious, but come on.

Most people don't know or care what is inside the console. As long as the graphics look better than the previous gen (anything current would be a step up from the 7800 series), these consoles would sell like hotcakes.

Caz what are you doing outside the Workout and Fitness thread??

I really wish they wouldn't finalize the hardware so far away from the actual release date. The graphics card in there is probably pretty decent now but next year they'll be another generation of graphics cards to choose from.

I wonder what the console will look like. I know the 360 came from the circular ring of light because a circle is 360 degrees but I wonder what they'll do with the 720. Two circles?

Very true but it could be even better if they would choose the hardware closer to launch unless they producing a bunch right now so they will have enough at launch.
And honestly, I'll probably buy one.

1440p is not happening. Consoles are used on TVs and I've never seen a 1440p TV.

More likely is native 1080p with 2160p support (upscaled from 1080p) as by the time we see these consoles QHD TVs (or whatever stupid acronym they go with) will be on the market.
