Agree! 100%. Not only are they worthless the next year. The new books are usually the same, just reformatted in a different order.

They create new editions every year or every other year so they can continue to make money on new books. It is more the schools fault for using the new book, especially when nothing has changed.

At least there you're more likely to be able to find a good job once you graduate, so paying it off is less of a concern.

(That awkward moment when you spend $10K/semester + books & dorm fees, graduate up to your eyeballs in debt and still can't find a job because the economy sucks.)

You pretty much just described America. College tuition is a financial bubble that is about to burst, just like the housing market. Debt forgiveness is the only way it'll ever be fixed, but the rich would rather the entire country perish then help others.

This.

When I started school the 4-year estimate for tuition was $45,000, by the time I finished it was $65,000. My tuition increased by almost 50% in 4 years. IMO it should be illegal to increase tuition of students already enrolled, I know 3 people that had to drop out half-way through school because the tuition had increased beyond what they could get loans for, leaving them stuck with no degree and $30,000 in student loans.

Schools are also feeding misinformation about graduation rates, and what percentage of graduates actually get jobs in their field using their degrees. Many schools will say "90% of our graduates get jobs using their degrees", which basically means "90% of our graduates get ANY kind of job after they graduate, that includes working at places like McDonalds, or as a garbage truck driver".
