The N2600 netbooks have already been released though most OEMs are only selling them through their own websites. Asus's 1025 would be nice but it only has 1GB of RAM that is not possible to upgrade from what I've heard. It really comes down to whether you want a netbook with 9watt power consumption from the CPU or 3watt. Since Intel gave a big middle finger to the Linux community with the N2600 due to the GPU I'm more than willing to recommend C-60s for windows users.

There should also be N2800 models on sale. The CPU runs at 1.83 Ghz and the GPU at 640 Mhz, with a TDP of 6.5 w (versus 1.6 Ghz and 400 Mhz, with a TDP of 3.5 w for the N2600). Asus has one, but you also can't upgrade the RAM to 2 GB or 4 GB, the 1 GB is apparently soldered.

Mind you that Intel has already announced the N2650, that runs at 1.7 Ghz and N2850, that runs a 2.0 Ghz. They use only more 0.1 w of power - 3.6 w and 6.6 w respectively. I don't know when these will go on sale though.

I think you should at least wait to see how the N2600 and N2800 behave, if the GPU drivers are stable. I've seen a youtube video and it seems to do pretty well with HD content. but I don't know about the rest. AMD should release revised Bobcat models, but they will unfortunately still be on 40nm technology, so if you want more battery life you should go with Intel, provided these new Intel powered netbooks are performing well, without need for driver updates.

A netbook for $400? Ouch, why? My A6-3420 laptop was $399. I probably don't get as good battery life I suppose, and its a little bigger and heavier I suppose.

400 USD or Euros? MSRP is $329 so I suppose $400 isn't terrible ($330 plus 20% VAT). But jeez, I'd look for something used. I had an AO722 for a while, paid $200, sold it for $200. About all it was really worth to me, maybe could see $300 reasonable. I'd go with a used netbook at these ridiculous prices. Or try to get a Lenovo S205, Lenovo X120e or X130e, HP dm1z, etc. - assuming these are close in price to the AO722. That or

I would check on any European Amazon sites for better pricing maybe, or for more Atom N2600 netbooks. There are a couple already released, namely there's one each by HP, Acer, Asus, and there's a Lenovo in the pipeline.

Now this is what I'd get. http://www.amazon.de/Lenovo-S205-Notebook-65GHz-320GB/dp/B00603ID64/ref=sr_1_10?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1331503391&sr=1-10

Lenovo S205 has an E-450 APU, which is a decent amount faster than the C-60, and it's a Lenovo! Really nice keyboard. I don't know if the layout is what you're used to, but it should be easy to switch in Windows/Linux if you don't need to look at the keys to type.

I'm from Poland so it is "the rest of world" , it says 7-19 days delivery and costs 14 euros.

So ex. for this lenovo, its 314 euro with shipping without warranty vs 365 euro with shipping and 2 years warranty in my country. Definitely not worth to save 50 euro for no warranty, and shipping about 7-19 days.

Btw. this lenovo looks interesting.
