Is it worth overclocking my ram, I have Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600mhz, not sure if its running at 1600 though.

Neways Ive decided to go for a stable overclock on each piece of my PC, will i see much difference O/C the Ram?

Thanks in advance.

if your RAM is running at arround 800MHz in CPU-z then its running at 1600MHz. thats the idea of DDR, Double data rate so anything say CPU-z reports double it..

IMO OCing ram doesnt give much noticible difference other than benching.. but hey try it and have fun thumb.gif

You would be better off focusing on tightening the timings with your setup, rather than upping memory frequency.
It's also fairly relevent as to what gains you'd even notice depending on what applications you need it for - if you're just gaming then nothing much at all really.

You should be able to get that to run at 1600x9CL no problem. Try setting the frequency manually in the BIOS , the options are set according to your CPU clock speed, there should be one around ~1630 with 241 as your clock and leave the DRAM timings on auto and they should set @ 999 24. Also, try getting your NB up to at least 2400. Doing those two things should net you a good latency speed boost.

FYI - Not all Phenom II CPUs like higher Northbridge frequencies. My 965 BE only goes to 2200 MHz. reliably but will OC to 4.0 GHz. at the default voltage. Thus with OC'ing there are no exact settings to make YOUR hardware perform at it's best. It's trial and error to see what works best. All people can do is recommend what has worked for other folks.

4x 4 GB. @ 1600 MHz. should be doable but it really depends on the IMC being willing and able. wink.gif

4.1+Ghz at 1.425V, I hope you stability tested that properly as it seems like it may possibly be the cause of your instability.  NB speed is not out of question, being above stock 2000Mhz speed.  But RAM is definitely probably out of the question, running well below rated speed.

For some reason i cant change NB speed, just wont shift. And you think RAM will need to run lower?
