Yeah, sorry if the description of my "process" sounds odd... I read on many other forums that people suggesting help said "make sure you uninstall drivers, RESTART, then re-install..." So i tried that and it didn't make a difference.

I initially just ran the setup program which gives you the option to "fresh install". What's strange is every time I try to start SLI and it goes to the 640x480 I have to reinstall the drivers before it will recognize the other card as being without "reporting problems".

Not sure if that helps at all...


Also, I removed both cards, seated them carefully and made sure they were locked in position, and not strained or sitting weirdly.

I have also heard of that issue, but I do not have a Realtec LAN driver that I could find. I have not however searched for updated for my mobo, mobo BIOS, or other hardwares. I will do that now, hopefully something comes up.

I do however have the latest Nvidia drivers, the bios on one of the cards was a few micro-version shy of the other so I flashed it up to the newest version... Can't think of anything glaring though, I'll report back with the drivers update

1. Are both cards identical in specs?

 

2. Did you try the new 570 by itself and it works?

 

3. Did you try a single card in second PCIe slot?

 

4. Did you try disable "PCH" High precision timer in BIOS?

 

5. Do you have another SLI bridge to try?

 

6. Are you using "Registered" OS?

 

7. Did you uninstall all third party softwares such as Afterburner?

Did you get the second gtx 570 second hand? possibly it may have a modded bios, mine have modded bios and I had to reflash them 2 or 3 times to get them working together properly

I went and updated all the drivers provided for the mobo, and the BIOS were actually very out of date, I now have the latest version available from asus.com (2303). I restarted the PC then tried to start up SLI and the same issue occurred. 640x480 mode, and now the one card is "reporting problems to windows".

Disabling "High Precision Event Timer" in the BIOS seems to have solved the issue. SLI now starts with no problems! I am going to try and stress the cards to make sure all is good, but so far it seems to be working.

Can anyone explain why that might have been the issue? Isn't the HPET just for counting system time?
