Help Deciding on a 560Ti

Thread Starter
I've decided to 'upgrade' a bit. Mostly because I want to fit a sound card on my board and get a 7.1 surround headset and I currently have no room with 2 HD5830's. I'm not necessarily going for a huge jump in performance seeing as I haven't had problems with my current set-up, but I defiantly don't want to take a hit in performance. The 560Ti seems to fit the bill, but there seems to be quite a variety of different versions and I'm having trouble determining what one is 'best.'

The ones I was considering are:
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Hawk OC
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II (on back-order)

And last, not sure if the extra 1GB of vram is worth the extra ~$50
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II 2GB

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Being so close to Kepler's launch I'd wait if I were you.
Hold on a couple of weeks and you should be able to get a gtx580 REALLY cheap if everything goes as planned/rumoured.
You could check the 7870 out also. It promises to be a great performer!

But what is 'REALLY' cheap? Are they expected to drop to around the $200 mark? If so I may wait, but as of right now I'm only wanting to spend 200-250 on a replacement card. That 2GB 560Ti is even almost out of my budget. With that in mind should I still be waiting? The other thing to point out is that they seem to have good rebates on those cards right now.

Also I'll point out I'd like to move on to a Nvidia card. I've been using ATI cards since forever and though I haven't had problems with the cards per-say some games like RAGE don't seem to run at all. After tech support basically saying "Durrr, you should be able to run it," the most logical move would be to try a different card. I also would like to experience PhysX a little more and may possibly pick up a 3D kit down the road.

I'd wait if I were you, the only reason to upgrade right now is if something breaks, in my case my GTS 250 broke so I replaced it, I was planning on waiting for Kepler, and.. well have you seen battlefield 3 on a GTS 250 at 1920x1080? haha seriously I'd just wait for it.

I agree with everyone here mate, unless you really need a new graphics card, just wait for the new generation. You might even be able to get a really cheap second hand GTX 580 or something. thumb.gif

Yeah I was just watching motherboards.org on YouTube and it's possible that the GTX 680 could have performance similar to multiple GTX 580's, not sure how true that is seeing as it was just an Unreal Engine demo, but the acceptable FPS Was found only on 3 GTX 580s or one Kepler 680. Might be true, might be hype, either way this definitely isn't the time to buy.

Yea, saw that video too, but you have to count in that the drivers for demo are now mature, Nvidia SLI scales really badly, and it is Nvidia, who do sometimes lie about things, but thats unlikely.
