However it takes some investment to make ROG happen, that is hard for other companies.
BTW Z77 ASUS and GIGABYTE non-ROG and non-G1 are equally fugly, but i wouldn't under estimate the UD3H and UD5H.
What really affects OC however are the BIOS and hardware engineers, which is pretty hard. everything is possible, but the issue isn't what is possible or what they can do, it is cost and time.

Yea i agree for the most part of your post, especially with the BIOS part, i want to have full control and many options to play with, its so fun and useful regarding high clocks (well at least for noobs like me comparing you lol) for example my cpu couldn't get past 4.7 until i get the ME4 thumb.gif

Ya, that leads more towards a "I own an Asus board therefor they are the best" water tight argument. With the X58 chip-set, Asus didn't have a board that was better than the Gigabyte UD9.

For this topic about the Sniper 3 and 4-way SLI, Asus as of yet doesn't even have a Z77 ROG board that can do 4-way SLI. So it's not even in the running. The only Asus Z77 that can do 4-way SLI is the WS board, which is a kinda vanilla non-ROG board with some strange PCI-E lane allocation with the PLX chip.

I currently have a MSI MB and I am not too impressed, will avoid them in the future. Never had a EVGA board but I have heard some good things. Besides GB with the Sniper 3, no other manufacturer has a board with all of the features I need for my new build.

Asus makes great motherboards, but doesn't mean other manufacturers can't make great ones either. thumb.gif

Ah, they removed that gun and ammo clip. I had the G.1 Guerrilla and when you touched those heatsinks and left your fingers on it for a couple of seconds, its actually burned you. frown.gif That vga port though, sorry but that is a no-no for me.

chill guys this is first round biggrin.gif we still haven't seen maximus 5 extreme yet, and we wont till second round. lol that doesn't mean makers like MSI wont bring out bigbang for this platform. Yea it has a VGA port so its a no-no lol. They put VGA on there because people like me like to use it.

I believe that's the integrated graphics. comes in handy when you don't a discrete gpu available. And I agree with you, we have yet to see what the MVE will have.

On a personal level; neither the MIVE p67 nor the p8p67 ws revo could get my 2600k past 4.9. Along comes this EVGA I picked out of urgency and what da'ya know biggrin.gif, it got me to 5.0. Though nice, I think the ROG boards have garnered enough competition (and more will come) so I don't think they are at the top of the hill any more. My 2cents.gif

I think its just knowing how to use the hardware for a lot of users, OC should be the same across boards that don't have clocking issues lol. Like for asus you have to turn up the switching frequency, on the gigabyte boards which aren't UD7 you need to turn up the current, and so on. There are finer techniques that can help users get everything out of there.

Which EVGA board BTW? Their boards were late i think a lot of people said they had issues, i am glad to hear they have fixed a lot of them.

EVGA P67 FTW. It doesn't have the uefi bios and I thought that was going to be a let down but this mb got me to 5.0 and I was able to boot into windows and run IBT (before bsod) at 5.1. Neither of the Asus boards could even post past 4.9. I did play around with quite a few settings though it was not much help. I also had the dreaded sleep issue with two ws revo's and the mive p67. I couldn't use pll overvoltage because of this issue, which could have been the reason why I couldn't get past 4.9. This happened with my 2500k and with my 2600k.
