Board is working great with the PLX chip. Getting some really nice and high GPU utilization numbers with two overclocked GTX 680's each in their own 16x speed 3.0 slots.

quick question

with this board is it possible to use the 1st pcie lane and 4th for sli
to create a big gap between the cards for airflow so the top can run cooler

What would happen to the pci-e slots if someone threw a 2500K in the socket.

Even with air coolers, you would still have a two slot gap between them (unless you went with those huge 3-slot GPU's). That would be plenty of space for air inlet. Here you can see with water blocks I have three slots distance open:

They would stay the same link speed, just drop down to 2.0 instead of 3.0

Id rather buy a ASROCK Z77 Fatal!ty Professional with 16 Power Phases.
Oh wait, I did tongue.gif

Honestly until Gigabyte gets there colors in order I'm staying away. I dont want Bright Neon or Bright Turquoise on my Motherboard.

My last board (Gigabyte P67A-UD7) was an amazing looking board, Gold and Black throughout, nice and sleek and simple, not like this neon green crap.

Though if I was building a "Nvidia" based theme; this might be nice, but unless Nvidia pays me to build one, I wont be.

I know look's are totally subjective, but to me the Sniper 3 board is much more original and look's a lot better than the tired old red and black theme, especially called something corny like "Fatal1ty" and lightening bolt heat-sinks. This board is also designed to do 4-way SLI and Crossfire, something most Z77 board's cannot do.

The only thing I'd upgrade my Sniper 3 would be to the ASRock Extreme11 if it ever launches (heatsink's removed):

550

Now that's a sweet motherboard and would be the ultimate for high-resolution 4-way GPU Surround/Eyefinity. wink.gif
