Thats even later down the line. Which was on the 64. There is surely no way that op is mistaking the nes for n64 ( I hope )

Btw, paper mario was actually intended to be the sequel or no. 2 of super mario rpg.

Agreed. Super Mario RPG on SNES.

If positive on NES, then I'm not sure. Unless you're thinking of Super Mario Bros 3, which has the world view similar to Super Mario World.

Man, your description is ALL over the place. You say you're pretty sure it was a Mario game but don't even give us a genre (platformer? rpg? etc.)

If we are basing our guesses off Mario, then yeah everyone that guessed Mario RPG for SNES seems to have the closest guess.

But from your description, no game like that exists unless you are confusing some major points.

Mario RPG was the only one that could be considered to have "3D" similar to Minecraft, but you'd think you'd remember that game, being, you know, complete unique for a Mario game from that era.
