£400 will i do much better than this?? - Page 3

You can get a good setup for about £350. I wouldn't bother spending money on a 2600k, an expensive motherboard, or an SSD unless you know you need any of those things (I know some people do).

Yeah sure, SSDs and hyper-threading are all nice, but there's nothing wrong with a computer without them.

I agree in principle but my theory is I might as well buy a nice setup and spend the money rather than drink it all in Jagermeister

Go for a good board in the beginning, get a lesser cooler, chip, or less memory if you have to, even the i3 2100 would be a modest upgrade. Heck, the Pentium G850 matches a PhenomII x4 980 in most things (including gaming), which would mean it's about the same power as a clocked Q9650 I believe.

Edit: Strike less memory, 8GB for under 50 quid is too small a saving to bother with, 4GB can be a bit tight for gaming, 8GB is perfect (my 16GB is severe overkill, I've never used more than 7GB... EVER)

overclockers.co.uk suck hard when it comes to RMA time, they drag their feet like hell and just dont like to take stuff back, stay away from them as much as you can thumb.gif
I had a very very bad experience with returning ram, i had to ask more than 10 times before they finally agreed to issue RMA number.

Don't know how you managed that. I've RMA'd components to them before, they do things in a very quick and professional manner.. I even got my RMA number within the same day of requesting one.

Scan is also a good company, although they were rude to me on the phone.

biggrin.gif its no secret about their RMA, honest. If you searched on here you would even see my screenshots of my inbox clearly showing all the ignored requests for RMA tongue.gif

I have bought off scan a few times and all was good apart from some tubing i bought last year,it was white but was kinda dirty when it arrivied, looked like it had been kept in a dirty place tbh.

I'd just phone them if they didn't reply to my emails. I've not had any problems at all with ocuk.
