In the majority of cases the 2500K is still probably the better price/performance buy but the 2600K is also an awesome chip. It comes down to if you use any applications that will take advantage of the 8 threads. You can't really go wrong with either one. The other difference is that the 2600K has 2MB more of L3 cache which can help in some cases (6MB vs 8MB).

ivy bridge is going to be around $320 (but there will probably be a slight inflation)
for ~$70+ cheaper most people would grab this instead.

for those people that just need to have the latest yeah its not worth it for them.
test shows 7% improvement but no one knows for sure how it overclocks. regardless im ready for it
