AMD Drivers uninstall/installation issue

Thread Starter
So, I managed to get them installed, but it takes some guesswork. Starting with the previous update (going to 12.1, I assume coming from 12.0? Not sure what the version I was coming from), whenever I use the AMD Catalyst Install Manager to remove my current drivers, it seems to mess with the colors of my screen. It looks like it's 8-bit colors or something, and most everything turns black. It seems that almost all colors that aren't white turn to black, except for a few highlights of yellow in some areas, if I recall correctly? Things that are white seem to stay white though. Anyway, this makes things very difficult to see, especially when trying to run the installer for the new version. I have to try and remember where the buttons are in the installer (accepting the license agreement trips me up because the radio buttons to accept/decline on top, I think) and hunt for them to progress to install them to make things visible.

Once the drivers are installed, there are no problems (the colors return to normal during the installation of the new drivers). But this issue makes it pretty difficult to install them. I tried going into safe mode, and the colors look fine there, but the installer fails with some error (fails to load some driver something that I don't recall). So I have to reboot normally and hunt for the buttons in crazy colors mode. It's quite annoying and I was a little worried the first time it happened. I just updated my drivers today to 12.2, so this is my 2nd time experiencing it. I tried taking a screenshot while the colors were messed up, but when I looked at it once I got the drivers properly installed, the colors were fine (I figured they would be, but thought I'd try and see if a screenshot would show it). I was too lazy to get out a camera, but maybe someone else knows what I'm talking about by my description.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows any solution to this? I assume not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Also wondering if this is a very common or known issue at all.

Thanks for any help.

Im having the same problem too, it's a mission to install new drivers, thankfully i have a z68 mobo so i have to shut down my pc, connect monitor to onboard video, uninstall, reboot, install new drivers, shut down, connect to video card and its fine, but its annoying, when i had my nvidia setup never had this issue, also a friend of mine with xfire 6970s is having this same problem.
