Thread Starter
Trying to build a home server. Running Windows 2008 R2 Standard as base OS.

Need to run a couple of VMs running:
a. WAMP server
PHP, MySQL, Apache

DB is slightly big (30 GB already)

b. Windows applications
network printer, some general windows applications like Office, Adobe professional etc.

c. Network file sharing
Videos, music etc.

Looking for:
Dual Processor (physical) capable system which will provide better performance

Budget:
$800-$1000

Really if I were going to do a VM, I would do a low level linux Vm for your web server, and then run the others on your base OS. I wouldn't want to have any Adobe apps hindered by the hypervisor.

Also, as for the webserver, it would be fairly easily to just install and configure apache, mysql server, and php 5.
