AM2 for sure?

Thread Starter
My current system is based on socket 747 technology and i am upgrading my cpu, mobo and graphics card this week. I am looking at buying a X2 4800 or 5200 but want to know the best socket type to go for, 939 or AM2. I believe that the AM2 is the better, is this correct? Can anyone also reccomend a graphics card for under £200 ($300 roughly).

Go for AM2, and for your price range, check out a 7900GTO. Don't know if they are out in the UK though.

It's Socket 754 first hehe, but yes AM2 is your best bet, and either an X1900GT, X1800XT 512mb, or GF7900GT(O)

The GTO is basically a GTX in disguise, so let us know how it works out! Good luck with everything.
