Creative X-Fi Titanium HD in PCI-e 3.0 x16

I was just wondering if you can put the aforementioned sound card in that type of slot, I'm only wondering because I'm possibly buying this motherboard:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=X79%20Extreme9&cat=Specifications

And I was also wondering if I could have both sound cards in there at the same time, the X-Fi for speakers and the included one for the headphones.

I know these are probably stupid questions but I'd appreciate any help. smile.gif

Thanks in advance. tongue.gif

Yes, pci-e slots are backwards compatible. You won't have any issues.

Ok thanks, my main worry was that the card wouldn't stay secure in the slot because of the size difference between an x16 and x1 PCI-e slot, will the card not move about?

Nope, you'll be securing the pci bracket to the case anyways. I didn't have any issues the last time that I ran a 1x card in a 16x slot.

I wasn't sure as the motherboard I have at the moment is warped to the extent that my graphics card won't stay in the slot and screw into the bracket at the same time so I've had to ghetto-rig the card to the case using a cable-tie. tongue.gif

Thanks for the help and +rep.
