Cable companies have you by the balls, at least they do here. Adelphia is now Time warner everywhere I'm pretty sure.. One day last week they just cut my speed down...200kbps down...Which is an unacceptable speed for the VoIP service I use meaning, I had no phone while they did this. No e-mail or phone call and 1 hour wait to get support..
If there was something besides TW, (not DSL lol) I'd get it. Sigh, you don't 'vote' with your dollars when it comes to the cable companies...

It really depends on your location rather than the ISP. However, I agree with the Adelphia sucks bit; during summer my connection (even when plugged in directly to the main line) slows to a crawl for some reason.

cable is an analog system... get good quality shielded cable and ur internet will get faster and better ping times..

i had adelphia 4mb and would always download about 450-500kbps
