the PHANTOM(410) KNOOOOWWWWSSSS!!!! (Upgrade and overclock process.)

So I've recently upgraded from an AMD 5600+ that I have had for YEARS! Finally just decided that I wanted to upgrade my computer. I picked up a 2500k from Microcenter with a sweet little Biostar z68 mobo that cost me all of 40 bucks. memory was very cheap, so very nice. a CPU cooler and a new DVD-RW as my old cd rom was ide lol. Still using my GS600 powersupply and my gtx260 and my CM 690 case, even though I had set my eyes on a NZXT Phantom410 in white, I just didnt have a huge need as my coolermaster was quite a nice case.

Brought everything home, prepped my computer, and then cleaned the case out while taking it apart. I then took the new mobo out of its box and bag, set the bag into the box, and set the motherboard on top of the bag. I like doing it this way because it allows me to get the memory, the cpu backplate, as well as the cpu locked into the system before it makes it's way into the case. I settle the FULL SIZE atx Biostar onto the board mounts i just took my old EVGA 590sli off of. there is no holes for the motherboard on the case, so I was stuck with a bunch of gear that I couldnt install.

Went to fry's this morning and ended up just buying the Phantom 410. set everything in and GOOD TO GO first shot! no problems or anything. have done some mild testing but nothing major. GPUZ and CPUZ are telling me my memory is at 666.1

I got a nice basic little OC. on everything else BUT my memory

did a little more tweaking, my memory is still trippin me out tho, why is my 1333 showing as 666 on the validator? I thought the memory would have been showing correctly for that? if not, I need to play with the memory a little more.

486

did a little playing with my GPU as well, hopefully this memory doesn't get too hot its stable now though, and I like that. I dont think i need to worry too much about pushing the chip anymore, I want this to run pretty much 24/7 and after running about 12 hours like that, my CPU cores are running at 35c on coretemp and 43 on the GPU @ 40% fan speed.

Just a quick note, in case you take the motherboard out again, the OUTSIDE of the plastic shipping bag the board comes in isn't anti-static, only the inside is thumb.gif

Get some pictures up dude smile.gif
