Never bought ATI... Which brand? (Opinions)

Thread Starter
Well my SLI 470s keep freezing and I can't figure out why, it isn't heat, I have completely reinstalled everything, and it is only in certain games that it freezes, but I keep getting driver issues that crash my PC with them... I was waiting for the new NVIDIA cards, but I am impatient and want to get a 7970...

As the title says though, I have never purchased an ATI card ever... Just curious of the pros and cons of the various card manufacturers... I was looking at reviews and they are kind of hard to go by as there are no "actual" reviews... Just extremes... Either "Works great 5 stars!" or "OMG THIS BRAND SUCKS IT WAS DOA 0 STARS NEVER BUY FROM THEM!"

Was looking for some actual opinions on the different brands as to which would be the best choice...

Thanks

My Sapphire has worked out really well for me. I don't think you can really go wrong with the manufactures listed above. I'd probably just get the cheapest from one of them out of the model lineup that you want.

I did a bunch of research before I bought my current card and if you are going to get a non-reference one with better cooling the Gigabyte Windforce x3 came out as the clear winner. I really like the Gigabyte card not only because it has the best cooling, but it is very slim and which makes more room in your case for other components/crossfire/ariflow and it is pretty my as silent as it gets as well (Sapphire might be a bit more quiet, but not evough to care about imo). This is my first Gigabyte card though I do have a friend with the 6970 Windforce x3 and he loves it. I can also say that Sapphire has always made solid cards with very good cooling as well and my friends and I have owned many Sapphire cards and have never had a problem.

Hope that helps! thumb.gif
