Yes, it's basically just a graphics update. A high-res screen, an GPU and RAM that can are powerful enough to keep up. The rest of the changes are somewhat minor, like the improved camera and wireless connection.

Indeed, I'm checking out the performance of the iPad 3 in GLBenchmark right now... it's looking pretty good.

>>>>>

GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt 720p: iPad 3 140 FPS, iPad 2 90 FPS
GLBenchmark 2.1 Pro 720: iPad 3 250 FPS, iPad 2 150 FPS

Sweeet...

At stock, the iPads are all provider-exclusive and not unlocked. Meaning whichever provider version of the iPad you get, that's the only network it will work on (unmodified, of course... wink.gif). So if you get the AT&T ipad, it will only work on an AT&T network, and if you get the Verizon ipad, you'll only be able to use it on a verizon network. Either ipad will work internationally (with international roaming), but only on the network that corresponds to the ipad you got.

Thank you.

However, IIRC, Ipad2 wasn't actually locked to AT&T (the AT&T version), as without jb/unlocking people could use sims from other vendors.

Also for example, the Canada version of the Ipad is for carriers: bell, rogers, telus. I don't think they can lock something to three vendors right? It could be just unlocked, at least I'm hoping so tongue.gif

Gosh, I'm all sorts of wrong today. Yeah, the "AT&T" version is unlocked. I think I was confusing things because I read a little blurb recently where people noted that the micro-sim metal contact points for verizon and AT&T ipads are not the same (hence even though they both utilize sims, you probably won't be able to get it to work without modification). thumb.gif

Is there any way to trade in an iPad 2 or 1 and get discount off the iPad 3?

I'm pretty sure that's a no, and if it was possible, you'd probably get little from Apple. Just sell it and then put that money towards the new one.
