For starters I have type III Ehler-Danlos Syndrome. My hips and shoulders easily dislocate. My joints and connective tissue are extremely loose and flexible which in a way has helped me. The first time I blew my knee out in H.S. football my ACL and PCL didn't completely tear, instead there was partial tearing and other minimal damage due to the way loose and flexible nature of what I have. Unfortunately I've had 6 knee surgeries, 2 ACL replacements, and the doctors will no longer use my own body to create a replacement ligament because my EDS; instead the next time (and there will be a next time) I'll have to get one from a cadaver.
More importantly my step brother died from complications due to type IV Ehler-Danlos Syndrome. He complained one morning before leaving on a hunting trip of stomach pain. He was in quite a bit of pain and the hunting trip was cut short. We all thought he had eaten something that wasn't sitting well with him. What we later learned is that he had an intestinal rupture that wasn't caught until a couple of days later. The doctors tried to repair the rupture but because in the doctors words "stitching his intestines was like trying to get stitches to hold in wet tissue paper", it didn't work. After 1.5-2 weeks of his body trying to fight off the infection as a result of the rupture his heart gave out and he died. He was 18 years old. What sucks the most about it is his mother died, roughly the same age he did shortly after giving birth to him, from the same exact thing. So while my younger brother and I knew nothing of this at the time, my step brother knew what was going on and what the eventual outcome was going to be while he was sitting in the hospital.
So again I'm totally all about this. My hardware isn't the greatest but I'll definitely be folding.
Besides, any Stern fan knows that "Eric the Actor" has EDS and has lived past twice his original life expectancy. The world would be a sad place without Eric the Actor... "Fly me with balloons..."
Sorry to hear it. If nothing else, this has pushed me to redo my HPCS instances and ensure I am folding on my card for the FaT too. With any luck, some progress will be made in that area from the folding everyone is doing

Try setting your computer up to auto-reboot with auto-login and fah in the startup folder (assuming you are in windows - not quite been bothered to look into the procedure for linux yet)
