low multi vs low fsb what to chose?

Thread Starter
i got a E6700 pentium dual core.
pushing the oc but wondering what should i do.

got a stable 10X multi with 400 fsb or my stable 12X multi and 333 fsb.

witch one have more potential of getting to 4.2

got vcore of 1.375 to 1.395

i only got 800 mhz ram i know thats holding me back but its more expensive to buy ddr2 1066 then some new drr3.
what are your taughts on how to clock this chip.

Lowest Multiplier with highest FSB gives most performance/memory bandwith on socket 775.
+You can also run your ram on native 800mhz speed (2x400mhz)

Its not smart to buy faster ddr2 in this time. You put your money in a savings jar and gather some for a better upgrade thumb.gif

You could also try to tighten the timings on your memory. Perhaps increase the voltage a bit if you also have decent airflow in your case

great so il go down the 10X 408 FSB boost the mem from 1.8 to 1.9 my 3.2 E6700 1.375 to 1.395
timming is at 5 5 5 15 so i should go smaller numbers?

only other 6700 here got it at 3.8.

Should i consider my self lucky to have it fully stable over 4 ghz?
