Only way to make your statement is to not buy it bcos of the DLC "stuff". As they will keep feeding you gallons of crap at low low price of 5$ per spoonful. I personally would prefer better support of modding community over the DLC (as it seems that modding is usually castrated to avoid competition of mods to DLC).

To me it really does not matter I will never pay for DLC period. I will buy the core game and just download the DLC since it should have been included in the game in the first place they will not get money for it from me.

the point is, you have an option to purchase the DLCs or not, what if they just include all the DLC then just make the retail price higher?

It's not a simple case of 'if you don't like it, don't buy it', though, the fact is alot of the story revolved around the ancient race known as the Protheans, to then dangle a living, breathing prothean in front of your face for an additional fee on top of the game is pretty shoddy imo, i'll agree that they know what they're doing, and according to Gamestop 40% of first day buyers for ME3 bought the day one DLC, so there ya go, it's not about wanting stuff for free, or complaining for the sake of it, i just don't agree with the practice especially in this situation.

what they are doing is perfectly legal, this is not a scam, there is no cheating or any stuff like that. it does not matter if you are agree or not,
what matters is if you are going to buy it or not.

Never said it was a scam, just a bit underhanded, each to their own, though.

I can't remember exactly the first time we saw a DLC but I remember I was playing COD and they advertised a new map pack it was like months after the game was released. I didn't buy the extra map pack because I stopped playing anyway but I thought it was a good idea and it was relatively cheap (it was 10$ if I remember).

Now you got DLC for guns, armour, extra content, special stuff (what ever it is) directly available when the game is released. So you kind of feel you are missing something from the game because you don't have all the content even if you bought the game...

Now I just try the game, stopped buying them. If I like it and the multi looks fun then I buy. The last game I bought was the witcher 2 so yea been a long time I haven't seen a good game on the market.

Maybe you should stop playing video games and take up another hobby that doesn't cost anything, like walking.
Better yet, I have the solution for you.
I'LL BUY YOU THE STUPID DLC.
But in return I want my yard raked, grass mowed, and hedges trimmed thumb.gif

I have a job that I work perfectly hard at, and can afford many things but choose not to so I can save for a car.

I'm not whining and crying about JUST EA and Bioware's practice for their DLC. Plenty of games have had things ripped from the Core game before release, and sold additionally as DLC. One such title which reminds me of this is the Call Of Duty series. There's plenty of evidence to show that the core game had maps ripped from it, to have them sold for $15 as DLC.
I'm not complaining because I'm spoiled rotten or because "mummy buys my games and I want game now" or whatever you might think. I'm complaining because a lot of companies are cheating us out of content and money, and I'm sick of it.

I don't mind paying for DLC at all, providing it is truly worth it. I payed $15 for BFBC2's Vietnam package because I knew that we were getting an abundance of maps, vehicles, weapons, two extra factions, and some new soundtracks. That definitely sounds worth it.
While some others mightn't agree with me, Bioware seemed to have ripped content from the core game to sell it for $5 extra. Maybe they didn't, and they genuinely created that content separately, and if this is the case then I'm sorry for my rational outburst. But for too long now we have been ripped off, and scammed out of money. It's not right, and shouldn't be allowed in any circumstance. All I'm trying to do is raise some awareness so people understand just what their money may go towards.

I'm seeing some incorrect misconceptions here.

First point I want to address is that you really can't compare Call of Duty or Halo to this because those are primarily base around multiplayer. DLC has a completely different meaning.

Let me try and explain the software process for those that claim "He was already planned and should've been in the game upon release." Whenever your developing a game with a format such as Mass Effect 3 (linear story based.) You are going to plot the ENTIRETY of the game out and start developing in chunks making sure your holding true to the story. However, your also going to leave yourself some outs and some ideas on the table for some DLC. I GUARANTEE the idea of a prothean character can be traced back to at least mass effect 2, if not mass effect the original but they couldn't find a smooth transition to put it into the game. I also guarantee you they have other avenues of DLC on the table that they're exploring and seeing if it'll fit without breaking the story.

A lot of people don't appreciate how hard it is to insert major aspects or characters into a story without the story breaking entirely and still maintain the same feel to the game. DLC to Bioware is something that IS NOT (big important 2 words there) gambreaking and WILL NOT detract from the story AT ALL. Let's do a side by side of your claims that they are "Ripping characters out of the game to sell as DLC"

Liara, Tali, Kaiden / Ashley, EDI, Garrus, James

Essential to the story: YES
Has major aspects in the plot: YES
Game wouldn't be complete without: YES

Javik
Essential to the story: NO
Has major aspects in the plot: NO
Game wouldn't be complete without: NO

There it is. The simple truth is that the game, which is completely story based, is 100% complete WITHOUT the prothean character. By the very definition of DLC, this character should've been DLC. Honestly, garrus probably could've been DLC if they really saw fit since he has such a minor part of this game however. Since he was such a major character in ME1 and ME2, they chose not to.

So to those that are claiming that they removed part of the game by removing the prothean, they haven't. To those that are complaining about Day 1 DLC, Bioware probably had the concept but didn't design this. I'm sure they have others on the table they they're looking at but haven't designed yet.

EDIT: To add onto this let's take another avenue of thought. I also think the reason they released the prothean on day one was to allow players to bring him into the game early and have him accompany you throughout the game. If they HADN'T released Javik on the first day what would be a good release schedule afterwards? 1 week later? 1 month? I think they released him at an appropriate time to allow players to have some other avenues of play.

If you can't unlock or earn a feature within the game and have to pay for it, that's pretty much removing something that should/could have been in the game for no reason other than monetary.

That is a poor argument.

Software packages come with lock applications all the time. Just because something is on a purchased disk does not entitle you to have it.

Most people complaining have no idea about the software development life cycle or how the software industry works.

Fallible statement.

IF that content is not allowed to be accessed by anyone who bought the game without the DLC , then why include it? "Well , its so that those who did wouldn't need to wait to download this guy as DLC" you might say , then consider this:What do i buy when i purchase a disk? A service/license to allow me access to the content of the disk legally? Then i own everything on the disk. A physical media that i have the rights to do as i please? Then i STILL own everything in the disk.

"Well , you bought "the game" " you might say. Then what defines "the game" and who can define it?Better yet , what is "core" gameplay/story/design? For example in the original witcher i can remove barfights , gambling , alchemy , witcher sword fighting styles , crafting , graphics ; the game is now 8-bit Geralt beating everyone with a sword that looks like a stick.I can remove any part of the game so long as i can "complete the game" without it right? Just because its unnecessary doesn't mean that it shouldn't be there.

There are lots of things in design that is there because its there ; we used to have a proper name for DLC , its called IMMERSION.Remember what was first prioritized in the late 90's and early 2000's though difficult to get to the consumer? gamebreaking bugs that would break the sense of IMMERSION to the game.Relate back to ME3 , the glaring character code bug that shouldn't even be shipped with the game just shows the level of incompetence the QA team has over leveraging the use of patches. You bet there were people angry over that. Why? Because it breaks immersion. And immersion is serious business in RPGs ; to deny what is on the disk , day-one , is heresy.

I hate day 0 DLC that's on the disk. I also detest lots of small DLC that add almost nothing measurable to the experience. A DLC worth buying adds to the game, adds longevity and more story/plot/fun. One new gun and a new guy is not a DLC, it's simply a money making scheme. Come on EA, add a couple new maps and some add-in bits to the single player story mode, then it's a DLC worth paying real money for.

Agreed. I think Fable 3 was the worst example for DLCs. Day 1 Dlcs, which is colored capes, colored hair, different clothes that dont change anything what so ever. Come on, these were suppose to be in the game for sure. $1 to dye my cape black? Whats worst is if your friend doesnt have the same dlcs clothes dlcs you wont be able to play with them. I dont mean that should be wrong borderlands doesnt let you play with people who dont have the same dlcs, but thats game changing. Fable on the other hand wont let you play coop due to cosmetic differences. I have this feeling this is what ME3 could have been going with all their ipod, keyboard, and other such merchandise.
