7770 pci 3.0. worth it?

Hi
Quick question, I could see there are some 7770 (and 7750) video cards using pci exp 3 (for example Sapphire hd 7770).
Other video cards use 2.0 or 2.1.

So when I look at some benchmark at the 7770, I was disappointed because I thought it would be a great card (because of pci exp 3).

What's the point to buy a motherboard who can handle pci 3.0 if video cards are no good ?

No GPU can max PCIe 2.x let alone 3.0 slots. Getting a mobo with 3.0 slots is really a future proofing exercise that in all honesty I dont think you will see a benefit for a couple of years.

The 77xx series cards are low end cards and are meant to be entry level. look to 78xx (mid range) and 79xx (High end) if you are looking for performance.

If you want a decent mid range GPU then look at a AMD 6870 or a nvidia 560ti. Wont break the bank but will game at 1920x1080 with reasonable quality settings.

I was in the same boat, Comparing the PCIe 3 and the price of the card to older PCIe2.1 cards with lower cost, and same if not faster speed. Decided to go with a 6850 (moving up from a 5750), 256bit vs 128 (7770) $139 after MIR compared to $159-179 (7770) dont know when/if the 77XX will come down in cost. Id like to see more extensive benchmarks for me to want a 77XX.

I'm wondering, the benchmarks we can see, are with pcie2.0 (or 2.1).
Now, if for the same benchmarks, but with a Ivy bridge and pcie3.0, will the performance be better for the 7770 ? More fps ?

Pci 3.0 will help you none but maybe with a mars II. It will do nothing for this card, end of story.

ok.
What about for other Pci3.0 cards? Benchmarks will be better with a Ivy bridge cpu ?
