Austin's "Green" Machine

Thread Starter
My cousin is 3 things, a budget-minded person, a ps3 gamer (i try not to hold that against him), and a lover of the color green. So when he commissioned me to make a computer he said 2 things:
1. Must be green
2. must be $350 or less "I'm not rich!"-Austin
Now so far have have spec'ed out using a apu and and a good old cannibalization of his whole computer. I am guessing his Mobo/CPU failed, I am planning on running a diagnostic soon. So basically this for for advice/a blog for how the project is going, tell me your thoughts/build lists!

So when you say he is a PS3 gamer, this computer is not going to be made to game? Omitting the cost of a video card is a good chunk (if he cared about graphics, anyway).

But like you said, an APU would be pretty good. Also, you might want to be looking into replacing his Power Supply. Especially if he wants to be green rolleyes.gif

He plays Civilization V, WoW, and a couple FPS games on the computer, no where near hard core pc gamer, but a apu makes sense...Whats your thoughts?

The a6. If its only for gaming theres a triple core for $85, but thats just 2.1ghz so beware. The a6 3670k is unlocked for overclocking- wait a minute, ill post a build in a sec

If you could use hardrive/case/psu from other computer we could fit a quad core a8 in there

His old computer is a IDE, AGP, dinosaur. Also, he already has window 7 Ultimate...He was shocked when I mentioned $200 dollars...so the cheaper the better...he loves the color green but is budget minded he hates spending money. So don't fill the thing up til the budget explodes...just recommend the cheapest rig you can.

Ok what i said -$100 for windows. If you want more then spilt the $100 $55 to go to a amd a8-3970k and the other $45 o a better hardrive, seagate barracuda 500gb (lastest 1tb per plater version) $80.
