i have a modem running dd-wrt thats gona be sat on my computer for wireless and wondered if rather than have another plug where it isnt needed just run this from the 5v of a molex or would the 1.2a be to much draw from the power? (psu is a modxtreme pro 700w) if that helps in answering thanks

You can do that given the modem uses a 5V power source. Check the adapter it came with. The current draw isn't substantial enough to worry about.
