I didn't miss Vista. I used it and loved it. I don't care what ANYONE says, it was better than XP. Win 7 was a natural progression and I have that now. However, I WILL be missing Windows 8 unless they pull some crap forcing you to use it like DX10.

Just take note this is just a consumer review. Microsoft released it (for a year of free license) for many reasons. I personally tested it and loaded all programs and it was not that bad for a consumer review. I was gonna make it as my everyday OS if it didn't crashed upon installing Acronis. All my personal apps works except the one mentioned so I reverted back to w7.

Other than that, so far it's pretty solid.

For those who are complaining about the missing start button, I would say I kindda missed that, too, but eventually I was able work around it(just few extra clicks and then I'm back on track).

^ Yeah but you shouldn't have to work around things, or perform extra actions that were intended to replace one. It's perfect for tablets. I doubt anyone could accurately refute that, but for a desktop OS it absolutely stinks. I like my desktop, my desktop wallpapers and desktop gadgets (SFKilla's Multimeter and the AIDA64 monitor, absolutely essential to monitoring the inner workings of my PC). Unless they provide a way to completely rid yourself of the Metro UI, I will not be getting it and I suspect many people will feel the same way.

I think we're all up for new tech on OCN, but now when it gets in the way.

NHA!RUN VISTA IN CLASSIC VIEW AND 99% OF USER WILL BE IMMENSLY LIKING THEIR EXPERIENCE!

Yes I did, it was Vista Business on a Core 2 Duo E6400 with 3 gigs of RAM. That was heaven back in 2006. <3
I disabled so many things. Services.msc and msconfig is your friend.

You ran it on a Pentium D, didn't you?

When i said workaround, ii didn't meant restoring the start button by hacking it. I meant i was able to find myself blended into the new UI and was able to find everything i need without the start button. If MS won't put the start button back, life goes on and i will still upgrade to w8.

Btw, you're right about that w8 is perfect fo tablets. I really believe it is tailor-made for tablets.

Windows 8 will be just like vista.. a crappy OS. Most kept XP, then switched to 7. Now people will stay on 7 ans skip 8. I hope so hahaha.
I may use it for my HTPC but no way for my main rig.

Completely agree. Windows 8 will be a huge bust.

Vista isn't as crappy as many were led to believe, it takes a bit of tweaking to get right.
It's more suitable to compare Windows 8 to Windows ME.

LOL. Let's not say things we can't take back, that's pretty harsh! I remember when I went with my father way back when to Circuit City to pick up a copy of ME. I think it was the second legitimate version of windows we bought and oh man was it the biggest pile of steaming BSODs I've ever seen. Getting networking to work on it was such a huge PITA.
