@ 0:53 in the video the guy says, "You could spend all day trying to find something in this thing." That's pretty much how I felt when I first used the OS, it's pretty annoying, definitely...

"real users" won't have their productivity reduced due to the OS; "real users" especially won't have trouble using their OS due to the lack of a start button.

And since now they are much further along without it, they will need to edit everything else to work with it. Countless days of pay to do this "simple" task (take it from a software developer its not that easy).
That is YOUR opinion.

Yes, 7 is a great improvement upon Vista. But in that transition it never lost Vista's bulk (which is finally gone in Windows 8). I'm not sure how experienced you are with Windows, but I own every single version ever produced. I've probably spent more time individuality with Vista, 7, and eventually 8 then you've probably spent with any of them (no troll intended).
I am a Systems Administrator. I live and breathe Windows operating systems and programs. You have not spent more time with Windows than me.

EDIT: I made the font smaller to please the masses. I'd hate to stoop to M$'s level and have to blow everything up just so a bulky unintuitive touch interface can be used.

Im pretty sure 7 didn't sell as well as you might of thought it did, lets not forget all the free upgrades, and low cost upgrade offers Microsoft offered to its customers. Im certain more then 70% of Vista owners took advantage of them offers. So really that's a lot of people already who don't count for a retail purchase. So as far as how many people actually purchased a retail version of 7? its not as many as you might think.
... Windows 8 RC released "zomg I luv Windows 8!" wait for it ...
There are 40,000 people in my corporation. Nearly as many end user systems (Laptops/Desktops/Thin Clients). We are going to be upgrading 95% of them to Windows 7 in the next two years.

Windows 7 WILL be the best selling OS Microsoft has put out to day within the next couple of years. Why? Because all those ENORMOUS corporations that were sitting on XP because they didn't want to go to Vista, because they didn't want to upgrade their applications... are upgrading their systems NOW.

Windows 8 will be ignored by at least 90% of businesses.

It's kinda labeled as "Internet Explorer" is it not? I'm talking about your average consumer. Did you know that the average consumer still uses Internet Explorer and not Chrome/Firefox?

Can we please stop attacking each other and remain on-topic.

Has anyone else approached "regular" users that they know with Windows 8 demonstrations like this?

I tried it on my 3 non-tech-savvy room mates last night and took them less then a minute to figure out how to switch between Metro and the Desktop.

Troll Harder, really...

While I will respect your opinion, I cannot say that I agree that a "real user" will have no trouble using this OS, on the contrary, even I had problems, and I'm not an average user, that's for sure. Been computing since 1983, started making programs on Apple/Mac then.. whoosh!

That's pretty funny, pretty much sums up the average user's computer I fix too, add-ons gallore! And they wonder why their computer runs like crap, lulz!

I can just see the haxorz working hard on new Metro Haxs for your Browsers, My Way Web Search Tool Bar was the worst of all of them, I'd be a very rich man if I had charged $50 every time I had to get rid of that nasty bugger!

This guy is right on the money, absolutely correct, all the corps are calling for people to upgrade to Windows 7 now... Windows Vista was widely ignored, just as this OS will be too... I concur 100%.

Looks like NOW is the time to stock up on as many Windows 7 64 Bit Operating Systems that you can buy, seriously, there is no way I'm touching Windows 8 outside of the Preview or because I have to fix a computer running it... You can just forget ARM / WOA (Windows On Arm), I'd tell the client, fix your own ____ computer!

In other news, "MS has contracted 5 more support centers in India to deal with Windows 8 Support requests"

The future! tongue.gif

I'd like to see some statistics about which OS on the business side of things is used most. I know a lot of businesses are still on XP, I would guess they would be more likely to do mass upgrades to 7 than 8, or if they just upgraded en masse to 7 they probably won't be switching out OS for some time.

It's not obnoxious at all. Its the truth.

You obviously don't work in the IT industry. Loads of businesses are still sitting on XP and have/will be going to Windows 7. There won't be any attention paid to Windows 8 at all by businesses.
