[YT] Growing Synthetic Diamonds [Video] - Page 4

I make my living off buying and selling gold and diamond jewelry on a wholesale level. I do retaimost pieces but I always sell to.the publication wholesale prices. It amazes me when a Guy comes in to sell me a diamond ring they bought at Jared's or Kay's for $2500. Anytime someone says they want to sell their diamond jewelry that they bought at a jewelry store, I show them what I sell the same stuff for and its always 1/10th of what these thieves sell theirs for. Yesterday. A Guy walks in with a ring he bought at Jared's and wants to upgrade, I show him that those little chips he has on hid ring, I sell 100 of them (1ct) for $90. His ring cost him $1800 and had $72 worth of scrap 14,kt and $45 worth of diamonds. Its sad but people fall for the prices of retail jewelry.

Moral of the story: when u need to buy her some jewelry, DO NOT GO RETAIL, GO TO THE PAWN SHOP!!!

Wonder how expensive that 10ct. diamond was for them to make, surprised they didn't mention it in the video. Its only cool if its significantly less expensive then a regular diamond. I suspect since their purpose is to make stronger diamonds then nature can provide (and not less expensive ones) that it costs quite a bit still to make the diamond.

Because pawn shops have an awesome reputation of never trying to rip people off either?? Better idea - know what things are worth before you try to go buy them.

Best idea, don't buy frivolous useless junk.

Also you can't know what anything is "worth" since "worth" is subjective.

Just imagine buying a nice pair of sunglasses and never having to worry about scratching em. Tossed em on the hood of your car and they slipped off and fell to the ground? Doesn't matter. Put em on the dash and they flipped up and slid across to the other side? Doesn't matter. Riding a quad and got splashed in the face covering em with mud? Doesn't matter. They're made of freaking diamond! heh
The future will be cool. Wish I could see more then my natural span.

Or heatsinks for PCs!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget copper bases go diamond or go home!!

For morality reasons (did a research paper on blood diamonds), I refuse to buy natural diamonds from large retailers. Plus, I like the idea of synthetic diamonds. Shows how far mankind has come.

You're right, be a smart consumer and know the value of things before you buy. You're also semi-accurate on pawn shops being sleezy. However, the company I work for is a $4 billion dollar, publicly traded corporation with an excellent reputation for being honest for treating our customers right. I know this to be true because I personally price all of my diamonds at 1/3 of Rappaport Value and my gold at $5 above scrap. Whereas jewelry stores price at 3x Rappaport and 5x spot. While your statement does have some legitamacy, broad generalizations do your intellegence a huge disservice.

Saying car dealerships are dis-honest is a VERY legitimate statement, but does not make it true 100% of the time. Even publicly traded corporations are sleazy many times (when dealing with "paying off" trade-ins and selling used cars) I defend his statement, despite the fact that there are many business, corporations and family owned, that would break the stereotype. He knows that there ARE pawn shops that are honest, but the majority of the time, they know that the person does not know about the product or the worth, and is willing charge more just because of this flaw.

While used-car shopping, I had a sweet old lady try to sell me a car for twice KBB "excellent" rating with a bad transmission and an obvious oil leak. Sorry, but business is business, and in general, pawn shops are just as bad. Other businesses have given your company a bad name.

Edit: Do a little research on what you want before you go shopping. It will save you from dishonest business practices.

Imagine this for someone who has the technology to make their own ring + order some of this stuff. Custom ridiculously expensive looking engagement ring, freakin perfect.

Forget that, full diamond F-22 that blinds everything as it attacks.
