but you earned a pt. thumb.gif

syntethic diamonds can be made, and it's cheaper. so if what you are saying about diamonds being indestructible is true, there should already be diamond armors, knives, swords, guns, etc. laying around.

btw, thanks for the rep, i'm not trolling though, i'm just educating the uninformed.

I never once stated they are indestructible. Careful don't make me slap you and take back a pt. thumb.gif

Try crafting it.

and ffs don't mention diamond firearms, you're just strengthening my point

Your debating with the wrong member poke.gif

No harm, no foul thumb.gif

But what makes a diamond valuable to me is the rarity, and that will never change.
With that, it becomes precious and pure.

But we've all seen Blood Diamond eek.gifskull.gif no thanks,

your point is moot when the "fact" is completely the opposite of what you are sayin.
i posted several sources already which proved my point, and opposed yours.
well, whatever, believe what you want to believe.

also my wifes diamond ring hasnt shattered and she bangs it on everything,
another example is a space probe the russians made in tthe 70's i think... with a camera that had a soild diamond lens to with stand the turbulent atmosphere of venus, its still there today minus the rest of the probe apparently lol, venus' atmosphere is very acidic too.
the main rule here is the weakest substance will break 1st, diamond being the hardest natural substance pretty hard to break, this is mohs scale of hradness,
Mohs hardness
1 Talc Mg3Si4O10(OH)2
2 Gypsum CaSO4·2H2O
3 Calcite CaCO3
4 Fluorite CaF2
5 Apatite Ca5(PO4)3(OH–,Cl–,F–)
6 Orthoclase Feldspar KAlSi3O8
7 Quartz SiO2
8 Topaz Al2SiO4(OH–,F–)2
9 Corundum Al2O3
10 Diamond C

you seriously needs to be "informed"

toughness of a diamond: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Material_properties_of_diamond#Toughness
hardness of a diamond: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Material_properties_of_diamond#Hardness_and_crystal_structure

1m, glasses 250g at the most... mass x acceleration= force in newtons, therefore .25kgx9.8m/s= 2.45Newtons over 1 second and im sure it would fall for less time than 1 second so really dont think that amount of force would break it
mordin solus? thumb.gif

well theyd accelerate at the same rate as acceleration due to gravity is a constant, so if done in a vacumm the same time

i know diamond is brittle jeez ive agreed with you there i just dont think the glasses would shatter and it would take more than usual force to smash a diamond, and btw diamond is all carbon, not basically carbon. you sound a bit up yourself i am allowed an opinion thumb.gif

Can you please chill? He was simply saying it was not going to break from such a small fall. He was not saying that you could throw it with all your might at a wall and it would be unharmed. I'm pretty sure that both of there are arguing at slightly different points.
