Help: I know nothing about monitors

Thread Starter
Hey everybody. I would like to buy a new monitor for my wife for her birthday (it is tomorrow) and would like to make sure I get a decent monitor for my money. My budget is about $200. 21" to 24" is the screen size I am interested in. Please suggest a monitor if you like; it would be helpful if it was available at Microcenter (that way I don't have to tell my wife her b-day present is in the mail).

I am not only interested in receiving monitor suggestions however. I would also like to know some good websites for monitor reviews so that I can help myself in the future. Please also let me know if there are any stickies or FAQs that I may have overlooked.

Thanks in advance for helping me get started! thumb.gif

Try to compare monitors and find one that has good fast response time, contrast ratio, color depth, pixel resolution and what type of panel it is such as Tn panel, IPS panel ect...

usually Tn panels are cheaper and the viewing angles are not as good, but this dosent really matter if you are only looking at the monitor straight ahead of you. My monitor for example serves all my purposes very well and it is a Tn panel made by samsung and i only view it looking straight at it so different angles and color blurr are non existent for me.

Ill try to dig up some different monitors and post some if i have time.
