[TV] Asus Zenbook UX31A and UX21A coming soon with Ivy Bridge, WiDi, matte Full HD IPS display, and backlit keyboard

Asus is working on a major ultrabook refresh to coincide with availability of Intel's new Ivy Bridge CPU and we've managed to get our hands on the full spec sheets. The Zenbook UX31A and UX21A are direct replacements for the UX31 and UX21, respectively, though don't be fooled by their similar product names, these are serious upgrades we're talking about.

If this is true, this will absolutely be my next ultrabook. Only concerning thing is only 4GB of ram at the high end, but I think that should be fine barring heavy autocad/photoshop use.

Thoughts?

Man, my girlfriend just picked up an 11.6" i7 Zenbook, I'm sure they'll go down in price very soon. Owell.

I wish these existed last fall. Now I have to get rid of my late 2011 MBA and trade up.

Intel HD 4000 performs at 8800GTX levels? I HIGHLY doubt that.
according to Anandtech's article about the HD 4000, even the HD 5570 is faster. a 8800gt is faster than the HD 5570. which is out classed by the 8800gtx.

If you're getting an ultrabook for CAD work, there's something wrong.

But, HD 4000 graphics would make the price on these things so much more... whats that word... meaningful? Yea that's it. $1k just for an ssd and battery life doesn't really cut it with me. The price has to resemble performance and thats what I see with the new processors coming out.

Maybe for HD video decoding...

Anyhoo, I wonder what will happen with the Zenbooks after Apple has decided to do with their litigation accusing it to essentially be a rip-off of the MBA.

The Asus UX32Vd will also include a switchable 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT620M graphics card.

But yea, they are not really meant for CAD. So far owning one of these seems a lot more meaningful than owning a MBA or MBP.
