Lives Lost ME3 (Spoilers) - Page 3

Considering the game was delayed by a year, I doubt time was a factor. An indefinite ending that could be interpreted a hundred different ways seems like an exec. decision, so that they can make another game/ trilogy continue where ME3 left off.

But really, let's be honest. Bioware has said from the get-go, before ME1 released on xbox, that ME was a trilogy. So they had the framework of the story, while they were still making the first one. Unless they have changed the story drastically from external pressure, this is the ending that they have had 4 years to go "wait, this ending sucks, lets ditch it".

Your squadmates are gone. You see Anderson get blasted by Harbinger. You get blasted. You wake up with a gun with infinite ammo that kills everything with one shot.
Fast forward to the Citadel. Anderson is there. Everything is just... off. Nothing makes sense. It's presented as a renegade choice to shoot TIM and save Anderson. Huh? The starchild crap makes no sense. The option presented to control the reapers (Which was The Illusive Man's choice "Renegade), is presented as the blue choice. The option to destroy the reapers (Anderson's choice "Paragon") was presented as the red choice. The star child also made sure to mention that all artificial life would be destroyed, including the Geth, EDI, and you. If you choose to destroy all artificial life, which as stated before includes you, and you have the right amount of readiness... You are shown to be alive at the end. Huh? Also, when you take the breath at the end to show you're alive... There's rubble everywhere. There wasn't rubble on the citadel. Also, the citadel was obliterated by the blast. Wouldn't you have been obliterated?
There's just too many inconsistencies with the ending. Think about it. The entire rest of the game was phenomenal. Everything was put together so well. The characters were played out fantastically. The missions were not repetitive AT ALL. Then suddenly this happens? I just don't think Bioware's writers are that incompetent to ruin their entire trilogy with that ending.

I think all these theories are good FAN FICTION to cover up for the terrible writing of ME3. This is not inception written by the brilliant director Christopher Nolan; ME3 is a EA/Bioware creation without the lead writer Drew Karpyshyn's involvement.

They game was leaked, they scrambled to change things when fans complained, things went terribly wrong.

It's possible, but it just doesn't make sense. The rest of the game is epic, the ending is complete failure. It just seems off step from the rest of the game's writing. I don't see this just as a result of scrambling to change. I also am not sure about the executive decision. Everyone wants to pretend that developers and executives are just dumb to the game. They're not. The executives see ways to make more money. The developers see ways to go "Yea, and you only THOUGHT you knew what was going on!"

Did I say it's right? Absolutely not. However, it's how companies seem to be doing business these days. I just don't think Bioware would let something as legendary as this go down in flames from a botched ending, if they didn't already have a plan. There's been tweets from devs saying 'If only you knew what was coming. I'd definitely hold on to ME3", and things like that. Something is going on. Whether it's this 'hallucination' ending, or it's something else, I don't know. What I do know is that they're planning something.

I just want to personally jack Harbinger's **** up. When I saw him land, I was like "Awww, yea, now it's time for your bi*** a** to finally get his!", and then he blasts me. I was like "Awwww, ***?!?!?!"

Well the one thing I would expect, which doesn't excuse the ending is that they have to setup Mass Effect Future (the next game after ME3, not a prequel). If the endings varied dramatically from each other how could they make another game that is not about Shepard.

I don't know about everyone else, but I would have been happy if in the end, with the best ending, everyone you have played with, except Thane because he was sick, could have ended up stranded on Earth.

That would mean no matter who you Romanced you could live happily ever after with the people that helped you save the Galaxy. This ending could have been very similar to ME2 where based on how much you do and how well you make decisions determining which of your friends or even larger groups live or die.

And whoever mentioned the Matrix, yeah the end scene on the Citadel was stolen from when Neo meets the Architect.

The problem with this? They better not require people to purchase content to get the "real" ending. People are already mad enough about the day 1 DLC. Can you image the **** storm that would erupt if people had to pay for an ending that actually made sense? I wouldn't be surprised if these tweets/comments from BW is just them trying to scramble/cover themselves while they piece something together.

Oh I agree. The only possible way Bioware could save themselves and their overall image would be if a new ending was released as a FREE DLC.

100% Agree, I don't like what Bioware has become since being acquired by EA.

Exactly. EA has ruined the company that brought us KOTOR and the original Mass Effect.

You know, it's funny. I am betting Bioware WILL do something about the ending, basically because they HAVE to do something about it. Pretty much everyone on the bioware forums has stated that they would refuse to buy any game DLC if the ending remained the same, because no matter what you do, you get the same damn worthless endings. Some have suggested that they expect a "Take back Omega" DLC, which would be reasonable and actualy probably pretty fun. However, knowing that it means NOTHING in the grand scheme of the ending, I wouldn't pay a dime for it. If Bioware/EA expects to sell ANY DLC for this game, they'd better make some big corrections.

Yeah Omega would be pretty much useless given the ending.

The more and more I think about it the more I realize the only thing that truly and honestly Irritates me is the Normandy being crashed in the middle of nowhere.

I was also thinking about the synthetic ending, which honestly seems so entirely unfeasible it is not even reasonable. A wave of energy is going to completely alter the genetic and physical makeup of whatever it touches.

I think I would have been happier if I woke up in a mental institution and the actual year was 2012 and just to go with Biowares style we could have a meteor hit earth and end all life on this planet.

Then how does the Alliance get to the Illusive Man whose base is in a Solar System without a Mass Relay. FTL travel is necessary to move from solar system to solar system in a reasonable amount of time, all ships thus must have some form of FTL travel that does not require a Mass Relay.

And even if they didn't the technology is Alliance and Earth is saved in the best endings and the best endings are almost always considered Cannon
