i7-3770K-(engineering-sample) was tested with 1600 MHz Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM,
Asus P8Z68-V Pro/GEN3 board wrote.

If engineering-sample may be the E0 stepping. Stepping into the retail Sandy Bridge processors
E1 I know.

Cooler Thermalright True Spirit 140 used 2600K@4.6GHz dwaetneunde I took down to 70° cooler.

Of the SuperPi 1M test at 5GHz is said.

Core multi set to - 48
Load line calibration - Medium
Phase Control and Duty Control - Extreme
VRM frequency to Manual - 350
CPU current - 120%
PLL voltage - disabled

Board of Load line calibration - Medium is the highest voltage 1.310V

In terms of the degree Idle1.366V Fix Mode, load 1.302 ~ 1.31V, and

If Offset Mode Idle: 0.920 ~ αV. Full load is about 1.304 ~ 1.312V.

Power consumption compared to a multiple (temperature)

but 48 multiplier & the Voltage (1.304 ~ 1.312V) =Temperature: 100°

It is wrong a lot!

Another usage for "fag" is cigarette in the UK (comes from older Uni students who would smoke while making younger students do their work/tasks aka "fagging" or at least that's one way it came to be called that), but the way "Fag outside the building" was inserted into the sentence seemed a bit random.

Just don't go using the same word for Gays in OCN as it's very offensive and would probably result in warnings or infractions.

He has a very good point- this may just be a heat transmission issue... or (as many other said) a software issue.
The guy said his HSF was not hot... he could touch it- which screams user error at me...
Sorry for the hype- but great discussion here thanks .... I am going to wait out for IB still.

You can still have really high temps even if the heatsink is not hot to the touch.

For example a really small chip with 15W power draw could be running @ 100C but it wouldn't really make the HS hot at all.

Temps and heat output are different things. If your HS is hot, the chip has high heat output.

Uh... You should. It's an age old expression with an age old story and explanation behind it.

Go ahead and research the phrase. It's meaning hasn't changed.

Yes but I feel that if his CPU was truly at 100C + then he'd probably notice some heat on the HSF... i mean my q6600 goes to 65C and the HSF gets a little warm...

The point is that the tiny little core can be 100C, but still not put off enough overall heat to cause the heatsink to become saturated with heat. The heatsink is able to distribute and dissipate the heat at the same rate, or preferably faster, than the chip can create it.
