Low GPU Usage - Crossfire 6950s

I don't know if GPU Usage affects frames per second or general performance but i did a test with my friend. He was always getting 98% GPU usage on BF3 in the same spots i was getting 60% GPU Usage. Every time in BF3 that i am in non-tasking environments like starring at a wall, my GPU usage goes up, but then when i am in a tasking environment like tanks blowing up, my GPU usuage goes down. I don't know what is causing this problem and as a result, i can;t even play bf3 with my setup without turning things down to low.

1) make sure both cards are performing as expected. First, install one card, run benchmarks or play BF3 to see if you are getting what is to be expected. Do the same with card 2. This eliminates possibly having 1 bad card.

2) Test one card in each slot to ensure both PCIe slots are working as expected.

3) I'd suspect a driver or CAPS problem. Uninstall drivers and CAPS and update to newest. I hear ATIman uninstaller is the best way to do this, but I have never tried.

4) Ensure crossfire bridge works.

Make sure you are not running bf3 in compatibility mode. I was stuck at 60% running cf6850s in compatibility mode (this is the solution to certain directx errors).

Took that off and now it runs at 99% both cards. I suffer the occasional direct x errors starting the game, but at least it runs full speed.

Is he running CFX or a single card?

You also need to OC that proc.

Try re running it? I used to get those, if you just wanna try redoing drivers, go download atiman uninstaller, if you have windows 7 go on the net and get the cmd line to unlock the hidden windows 7 administrator account, in the search field on the start menu, type in cmd, it should bring up the command prompt, right click it and run as admin, then enter the cmd line to unlock the hidden admin account, it should say successful if u did it right, next log off your account and onto the hidden admin account and install atiman uninstaller then run it on the hidden admin account

It should reboot once or twice then after install the 12.1 drivers, then reboot, then install 12.2 over 12.1 for the overclock fix, reboot then instwll 12.2 cap 1 then, go into ccc disable crossfire and then reenable it, put 20% on both cards and try running bf3
