All the sudden sound on the computer is crackling, no hardware or software changes

Title basically says it all...

Yesterday my computer's audio sounded just fine. Today there is a crackling. Thought it might be the speakers. Checked all connections, no issues. Tried different speakers and a headset, same issue, so it's not the speakers. Uninstalled and re-installed the realtek audio drivers (using onboard sound from the MB in my sig) and rebooted, still no fix.

Your speakers are shield'ed right? But i guess if you get the problem with different speakers and headphones then the sound isnt from electronically interference.

Try moving your usb from your mouse and keyboard into a different usb port.

I had some problems with my mouse or keyboard giving my tv speakers interference when ever i moved the mouse. Once i changed around my usb plugs it solved it. Well more as i used a ps/2 adaptor for my keyboard and now i dont get any interference.

You can always wrap the audio cable in aluminum foil to block out electronic interference just to be sure. However it doesn't sound like this problem, but i cant think of anything else.

Could my MB be going bad? I haven't changed anything as far as USB cables are concerned, which makes the whole situation weird.

Unplug the speaker cable from the back of your case and dust the output hole. I had an issue once where some dust and gotten inside the port and kept making a scratchy sound. It took me forever to figure out what was causing it.

Check on your mobo, Inspect the caps, resisters and chipset. You could have a fraying cap or resister or something.

If you can change the cables then do so. Another test would be another sound card.

Headed to Best Buy right now to buy a quick card and swap it out, see if that's the issue.
