Overclocking question (can someone know a system was once overclocked?)

Thread Starter
I am new to overclocking, and so far I've got a i5 2500k with STOCK fan until I can get the Corsair H60/70.
First is,
I bought the PC in my sig and had it assembled by NCIX for 50$, which included some top notch cable management and a 1 year warranty on all parts that were purchased from NCIX (i had a GPU and monitor and SSD/HDD from before). The thing is warranty is obviously void if there is physical damage, but its also nullified if I overclock the CPU.

I know that I shouldn't go above ~3.7/8 on the stock cooler, and right now my temps are 67 67 65 66 in Prime95 (after about 10 min and with RealTemp) at stock inside the spacious 600T

I was wondering if I overclock, and the something happens, hopefully not, and I have to get it repaired by NCIX, as long as I go back to stock clocks, would it be possible to see that the system was once overclocked?

Also, I've read that auto-overclock sucks so how should I proceed to overclocking this on a Asrock z68 extreme3 gen3?
First, what do I need to change?
the multiplier?
the voltage?
Is there a thorough guide that I can use?

Thanks

first off i don't know of any way that they can tell if you have OCed once you do a complete reset (overkill but read my sig (hit the clear CMOS button let it do its thing, unplug, remove battery, go find somthing to do for 3-4 Hours, come back and hold reset CMOS button for 30 sec, repeat last two steps 3-4 times, plug back in and boot)

to OC you basically change the mullti untill you crash then increase the voltage however don't just leave the voltage on auto just look around there are plenty of good OCing guides.

They should not be able to tell it was overclocked if done properly, don't go giving it a boat load of voltage and you will be fine. Intel suggests the MAX voltage is 1.52v stay well under that and you should be fine. You also have to consider in the temps staying under 75C under full load is recommended as well.

Overclocking Sandy Bridge is quite easy simply raise your multiplier and your vcore depending on where you want to be. For an example if you want 4.5GHz.

Multiplier 45x (You may need PLL Overvoltage after 45x)
Manual voltage: 1.30v (this should be plenty for 45x so you can back it down until you lose stability and bump it back one increment and test for stability with Prime95 on blend)

Here''s a good guide here, it's for the P67 but it's all the same. HERE!
