An idea of 2500k temps [stock vs. Overclocked] - Page 2

i have the same cpu and had the same heatsink/cooler

overclocked to 3.8ghz @ stock voltage

my idol was 24c and in gaming/benching was up to 39-42c

my advice is scrap off whatever thermal paste you have
and reapply some artic silver 5

and also, try to push down on your heatsink with your hand
while your pc is running and watch to see if your temp drops.

if it does, your heatsink isn't making good contact with your cpu.

ALSO just some advice, try using Open Hardware Monitor.
Best program EVER. The most accurate i have found yet

Thanks for some of the no brainer advice. I used some PK-1. I pushed the heatsink down it my hands but the temperature didn't drop.
I am running both Open Hardware Monitor and Core Temp.

The highest core temp is between 69C-70C @ 4.533GHz at 1.304V while PRIME95'd

I have the PLUS, not the EVO. I actually didn't know there was an EVO...

I'm going to order some more PK-1 to re-apply the paste and add another 120mm fan to the other side of the heatsink for the Pull/push combo... Also ordering another 120mm fan for the case window.

P.S. When I add a fan on the side of the case... What's the rules with Intake and Exhaust for a case? Intake on the front only and exhaust everywhere else??

Thanks stubass

nps, usually i would put the side fan as intake as well as the front and have my exhaust on the rear or the case.. This is so it blows cool air towards the motherboard, well thats what i do smile.gif
