Recommend me some good sound cards for my system?

Thread Starter
Hey guys. So I am looking to buy a sound card to go along with my Roccat Kave (it has real 5.1 surround sound)

I was wondering which ones are good, and how their quality is measured exactly. What makes a sound card better than the other? How do you measure that?

Please list as many as you can, I really need suggestions

Creative Sound Blaster Titantium HD is great one. A good sound can get modded to add on amps to allow better lows and highs.

Asus Xonar ST/STX is a good high-end card. In the cheaper end, the Asus Xonar DX is a good choice. I don't think you need anything better than a Xonar DX for your headset, a Xonar ST/STX is probably wasted on your headset..

Creative (or Auzentech who use Creative chips in some cards) is usually considered better for gaming, not only because of EAX5, but also because of CMSS-3D which is considered better than Dolby Headphones by many (although this is subjective). Your headset, being 5.1, won't need virtual surround though, so any card should work for gaming. If however, you're considering upgrading to more expensive stereo headphones and want virtual surround for gaming, Creative/Auzentech is the way to go.

A sound card is rated on it's features (in/outputs), sound quality (like frequency response and dynamic range, I guess) and probably most importantly sound signature (warm, neutral, cold, which genres it suits).
