2 stciks of ram vs 4 stick real world difference?

i am moving up to 8gb's of ram as i have seen my free ram getting very low with some programs. anyway i have read that 2 sticks is better if you have a higher overclock but my overclock is not that high. so would i see any difference between 2 and 4 sticks in the real world?

thank you

Well, you do have the 1090T which has a better memory controller than the Deneb based Phenom II X4's, but I'm not sure if your overclock is high or low enough for it to handle two memory sticks per channel. One thing you'll have to tweak is the speed as I've read that it defaults to 1333 Mhz when two sticks per channel are used.

The general consensus is that yes, using only one stick per channel increases your chances of getting a higher stable overclock. As to 4 GB vs 8 GB I can tell you that since I've upgraded I can have a lot more tabs open in Firefox and not worry about it, and games are starting to take advantage of more than 4 GB, like BF3, that can use up to 6 GB. I have my Q9550 at 3.4 Ghz and I didn't have a problem with the overclock when I upgraded to 8 GB, but of course it's a different platform, it's not a high overclock and the memory is running at stock speeds, so your mileage may vary.

It's also usually less expensive too.
