Pair of GT2150s & pair of med YL's for push./pull or . . .

After waiting all this time for the Group Buy fans to be shipped, I've just about reached my limit of frustration. I'm considering selling the two I had ordered and just getting 4 YL's, for push pull, which I won't be able to do anyway, with just the two GTs, and can't afford to buy 2 more. If I do wait for the GT's, and wanted to do push pull with a pair of different fans, I would set each pair of fans across from each other, the recommended push/pull setup. But with 2 different sets of fans, how weird is that? Are there any downsides other than being ugly? Should I just ditch the GTs and get 4 YL's? (I hate to ditch them after hanging in there waiting for so long!)

Any opinions/suggestions welcome, thanks,

Here's how I'd set up push/pull with 2 GTs & 2 YLs

No down side that I can see, but unless you fit some nice gasket or something to block air from the GTs going to the yates, you may (or may not) find your yates suffering in the airflow from the GTs... It depends on the config, airflow, rad and so many other things if that's an issue or not. The only way you will be sure is to fit just the GTs, and try and see if there is any air leaking around the edges of the fans into the area the yate loons will be. Probably nothing a bit of well hidden duct tape couldn't solve however.

I have something similar, all 4 fans are GTs but 1 pair are AP13s and the other pair are AP14s. Works just fine for me.

Thanks, good point, though I don't think I'll go to all the trouble I did when I was using heater cores (spent a lot of time making performance shrouds). To seal the air on my current setup I am using Aluminum Tape on the seam between the rad & fan. I checked out those silicone gaskets, man, they aren't cheap !! Four of them shipped more than $20 seems ridiculous... but hard to substitute.

Thanks for this. I feel a bit of renewed patience waiting another week or so for my barebones fans to arrive. Still, only 16 orders have shipped . . . tick tock! wink.gif
