And some people say the 7970 is overpriced and what happened to the 680 being faster then a 7970?

So it went from Nvidia laughing at Tahitit performance, to beating in DX11 games but not in 3D11, and now just trading blows with the 7970?

Glad I didnt sell my 570 just yet.

Sorry, I'm not up to date, but is the 1536 Shaders of course mean CUDA cores and is that correct, I know its supposed to be as fast as 3x 580 which 3x 512 CUDA cores in the 580 is 1536, but I also know the 6970 has 1536 shaders... Don't know if I'm stupid or they are.

the current line up are just too solid to bring prices down...................... until the software catches up there really is absolutely no point upgrading...................

my 460s will keep me thrilled until next year when I want to double up on performance to play the likes of the new unreal engine, for a realistic price point.

Its this upgrade itch that these companies are relying on, that why they can release new technology and charge a premium. No body really needs that power yet.

Id even say a 580 will be a more realistic and smarter buy now that its prices are going to come down. Id say £300 is not a bad price for a 580.

We have to see whether the GTX 680 or 7970 has better performance when overclocked. It will be interesting to see if the GTX 680 still has better power consumption when overclocked.

They neutered this card. Completely disappointing.
For being 3 months late to the game I expected a monster of a card for this much cash.

The CUDA count is correct but the performance is not. Due to the removal of hotclocks etc Kepler cores are significantly slower than Fermi cores.

If it had 1536 Fermi cores it would melt in that density.

ATI Radeon decreasing cores & nVidia increasing cores

i mean ATI is providing much performance/core than previous generation cards..but now nVidia is decreasing performance/core in newer generation cards..rolleyes.gif
